Gallery Rules, Exhibition Policies & Guidelines

General Governance

Gallery 21 shall maintain a Technical Committee comprising experienced artists and management members. The Committee shall review and decide on all matters requiring official decisions.

Eligibility

Exhibiting artists must be members of the art community in good standing.

Originality

All submitted artworks must be original and created from the artist's own imagination or reference images. Plagiarized or reproduced work will not be accepted.

Display & Installation

  • The placement of artworks will be determined by the Gallery Curator in consultation with the Gallery Team (GT).
  • Only the Gallery Team (GT) is authorized to install, move, rearrange, or modify displays.
  • Artists must comply with the gallery's installation guidelines.

Duration of Exhibition

  • Artists agree to leave all exhibited artworks for the full duration of the exhibition.
  • Unsold works may remain in the gallery for up to six (6) months or longer with the artist's consent.
  • Undisplayed works must be collected promptly upon notification.

Commission

Gallery 21 shall retain a commission of 30% on all sold artworks.

Presentation Requirements

  • All artworks must be properly framed and ready for display.
  • 2D artworks must have secure screw eyes or proper hanging hardware attached.
  • Sculptures, ceramics, and textile works must be stable and self-supporting.
  • If framing is arranged by the gallery, the framing cost shall be borne by the artist.

Artwork Information

Each submitted work must include:

  • Artist's full name
  • Title of artwork
  • Medium
  • Dimensions
  • Sale price

Prices must be finalized before tagging and cannot be changed once displayed.

Content Guidelines

Artwork must respect standards of decency and avoid religious intolerance, hate content, or controversial subject matter deemed inappropriate by the gallery.

Suspension of Work

The gallery reserves the right to remove or suspend any artwork that is:

  • Damaged
  • Improperly prepared
  • Considered unsuitable for display

Shipping

All shipping and return postage charges shall be the responsibility of the artist.

Liability & Insurance

By signing the consignment agreement, the artist acknowledges and agrees that:

  • Gallery 21, its members, staff, and volunteers shall not be held liable for any damage, loss, or injury occurring within or around the gallery premises.
  • The artist waives any claim for loss or damage to artworks listed on the consignment form.
  • Insurance coverage for exhibited works remains solely the responsibility of the artist.

Policy Amendments

These policies may be revised or updated at the discretion of Gallery 21 when necessary.
